The best hostel we stayed at in the Balkans. Great location in the heart of Sarajevo, which is such an incredible city. Decent bar area showing football and a nice... read more garden. Rooms have everything you need, shower facilities are fine.
The main draw of this hostel are the owners and the tour. I HIGHLY recommend it, again it's great value for money and takes you to places in the hills around Sarajevo where you wouldn't be able to get to. The tour tells you about the seige of Sarajevo and you hear horrific but important stories. Ivan is a legend and his passion and emotion really comes through in this tour, all of our hearts go out to the Bosnian people after what they went through. An incredible experience which I'll never forget.

Being exhausted, hungry and feeling dirty after having been travelling for the entire day, we got in. The staff couldn't have been nicer, warmer nor more friendly. Everything felt so authentic and genuine. Despite our exhaustion, we ended up going out with some of the guests and the staff itself. The rakija (an strong traditional drink from the Balkans) they provided us with might have had something to do with it. One of things I loved so much about the hostel was its environment. They really wanted you to learn about the city, its history and its people. One could see their passion for their city of birth, as well as the impact the war and the siege of Sarajevo had had on their lifes and the collective mind of the people of Sarajevo. In this regard, we were able to take an awesome (and, I got to say, cheap) tour organized by the hostel in which they showed us some of the key locations of the city from the perspective of the siege of Sarajevo, which took place for almost 4 years (1992-1995) and ruined and took thousands of innocent lives. If I ever go back to Sarajevo, I will for sure knock on this hostel's door... It took us not more tha a few minutes to fell in love with the hostel. No AC in the room, only a ceiling fan which was virtually ineffectual. I was travelling with one other person and when we arrived there was a presumption that we... read more would be happy to stay in a double bed (bottom bunk) together, which we weren't happy about. The hostel wasn't cheap, nor was the room cool so the thought of sleeping side by side was daunting. We had also paid for our own beds, so that's what we expected. Bathrooms were not clean in the slightest. The stench of stale urine, at points was unbearable. It puzzled me because when I went to the toilet a few times someone had just been and mopped / was mopping yet the toilets smelled so bad? Also, no sense of privacy. The toilet doors are sliding with a big gap at the bottom and are right next to the communal area so not much left to the imagination. Unfortunately, I had travellers tummy whilst I was there and it was so uncomfortable. I was travelling eastern europe and it would have been a much more bearable experience at any one of the other hostels I stayed at.

Me and my friend missed our bus to Serbia resulting us being very tired and frustrated and so we needed a place to crash for one night in Sarajevo. Another... read more friend of mine had recommended me this hostel so we didn´t even look for any other option. So we arrived....and greeted by Ivan we felt most welcome and could relax and enjoy the welcome shot of rakija (yum!). Ivan gave a lot of tips and recommendations.
The hostel itself was very nice, the bed comfortable and bathrooms I can see being a bit crowded during rush hour (but hey, who goes for a shower during rush hour anyways) but they were clean and convenient. I love the bright colours used in interior design too! Will definitely go back and stay there when back in Sarajevo! 🙂

While we were happy to share the bed, we were not happy to be charged the same as people with single beds, when we questioned this with staff they were very unsympathetic and said that this is standard practice at the hostel when 2 beds are booked.
